02/07/2008 20:06. In his latest column, David Suzuki reflects on the good and bad from science.

In it, he makes the startling statement that what is needed today are "the tools of skepticism, critical thinking, the ability to assess the credibility of sources, and the humility to realize we all possess beliefs and values that must constantly be reexamined."

Startling, in that Suzuki eschews his own advice. He scornfully characterizes as "deniers" those scientists who offer hypotheses different from his on practically any subject.

I anticipate being condemned for saying so, but Canada`s eco-prophet of doom engages in "yellow science," an inevitable offshoot of sensationalist "yellow journalism."
