Prospective students take NTI for a test drive
24/06/2008 00:11. The air around NASCAR Technical Institute was filled with roaring engines and excited chatter.

No, it wasn’t a demonstration of the Car of Tomorrow. An open house Saturday gave prospective students a glimpse of what it would be like to work for a NASCAR team some day.

T.J. Dykstra, 20, recently moved to Statesville from California to take the first step in fulfilling his dream of being a NASCAR pit crew chief. He is supposed to start school Aug. 25.

“I just really want to do what I want to do,” he said.

The school in Talbert Point Business park is a part of the Universal Technical Institute System and graduates around 700 students every year.

Around 600 graduates have gone onto racing industry. Others are now employed by automotive manufacturers, such as Nissan, Ford,... // Mooresville Tribune
