Carolina, the Advanced Vehicle Research Center, a small Raleigh
company, can outfit a Toyota Prius gasoline-hybrid car with a second battery pack that can plug into
a wall outlet to recharge. The result, says the newspaper: "A car that breaks a once-unimaginable fuel-efficiency barrier and delivers 100 miles per gallon," which is more than double the current Prius mileage.
