02/07/2008 11:01. Toyota announced today during its monthly sales conference call that it will introduce the five-door version of its hot-selling Yaris subcompact to the U.S. market later this year as a 2009 model. The five-door Yaris small car is presently sold by Toyota in European and Canadian markets.

Toyota posted a sharp, 21.4 percent sales decline decline in June, moving 193,234 cars compared to the same time last year.  But sales figures for the sedan and three door Yaris , one of the automaker's most fuel efficient models, totaled 8,472 units for the month -- an increase of 4.1 percent versus 2007.
