12/08/2008 10:14. How many convertibles can Volkswagen make before each droptop simply eats into the sales of the other models sharing showroom space? We're not sure, but come 2010, the automaker is planning on launching a convertible version of the newly-released sixth-generation Golf, according to an Automotive News report.

"It is a demanding timeframe," an insider told Automotive News , "but the new Golf convertible is aiming for spring business the year after next."

Of course, the 2010 launch date for a convertible version of the Golf -- last seen on these shores with the fourth-generation Golf's Cabriolet -- does not include the U.S., which, as we've noted , will not get the new... // MotorTrend Magazine
