VW Clean Diesels Get $1300 Federal Tax Credit

01/08/2008 07:59. Hybrid owners are no longer the only ones being rewarded by IRS. Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced that buyers of the Jetta TDI sedan and SportWagen are eligible for a $1,300 Federal Income Tax Credit. The Internal Revenue Service has issued a certification letter affirming that the vehicles qualify for the Advanced Lean Burn Technology Motor Vehicle income tax credit. // Car Audio

01/08/2008 00:50. This is a nice perk for anyone considering a new VW. The new 2009 Jetta TDI and SportWagen start out around $21,990, so this credit might actually give them a slight edge on the Toyota Prius, which costs about $21,500.
