19/07/2008 11:03. Currently, the Rabbit is the smallest and least expensive Volkswagen you can buy in the U.S., but perhaps not for long. Volkswagen may bring a subcompact car like the Polo (pictured) to the States, according to Bloomberg.

"We are considering bringing these cars here," said Volkswagen's Stefan Jacoby. "It's too early to give a timeline for when."

Volkswagen recently announced it will begin making cars at a yet-to-be-built facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee . The facility will produce a new midsize sedan to replace the Passat in 2011.
