Volkswagen claims delivery record 27/06/2008 09:13. German carmaker Volkswagen AG said yesterday the group's total
worldwide May deliveries increased and that it achieved a delivery
record in the first five months of the year. Wolfsburg-based Volkswagen said May deliveries were up 2 percent to 553,400 vehicles, while in the January through May period, the company's deliveries were up 6.6 percent at 2.7 million vehicles, a company record. "The enormous model selection available through our eight brands has again proven itself in the increasingly difficult market," said Detlef Wittig, VW's production chief. "In the month of May as well as in the January through May period, our deliveries clearly developed better than the weakening total demand in the European market," Wittig said.
