15/07/2008 11:05. DEATH VALLEY, California — Volkswagen has already begun working on the next-generation Touareg , and based on this engineering test mule, numerous changes are in the works.

Although the Touareg prototype is covered largely with the current Touareg's sheet metal, intrepid spy photographers were able to quickly measure the prototype, proving that the familiar body is hiding a new lengthened wheelbase. At 114 inches, the new Touareg's wheelbase looks to be approximately 2 inches longer than the current model's.
